Daily probiotic 20 billion CFU capsules combine Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains in a delayed-release capsule. One a day, 30 capsules, a one-month supply.
What CFU means
CFU stands for colony-forming units — the number of live bacteria capable of multiplying, counted at the end of shelf life rather than at manufacture. 20 billion CFU sits in the range used in most clinical work; higher numbers on a label are not automatically better, because strain identity and survival matter more than raw count. A probiotic is defined by the organisms in it, not by the headline figure.
Why the capsule is delayed-release
Stomach acid is the main obstacle for any oral probiotic: at pH 2, most bacteria in a plain capsule do not survive the journey. A delayed-release shell stays closed through the stomach and opens in the small intestine, which is where Lactobacillus species colonise; Bifidobacterium settle further down, in the colon. That is the reason both genera are included — they occupy different parts of the gut.
What the law allows us to say
The EU has not authorised health claims for probiotics, so none is made here — the word ‘probiotic’ itself is used as the product category. People commonly take them after a course of antibiotics, when travelling, or during periods of digestive upset. Those are uses, not claims, and anyone who is immunocompromised or seriously ill should ask a doctor before taking live bacteria.
How to take it
One capsule a day with water, ideally before breakfast when stomach acid is at its lowest. If you are taking antibiotics, separate the two by at least two hours — an antibiotic does not distinguish between bacteria. Store as stated on the pack; live cultures lose viability in heat. L-glutamine is the related product here, as the primary fuel of the cells lining the small intestine, and milk thistle and turmeric are the other two most often taken in the same digestive context.
What is in each capsule
- Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains — 20 billion CFU total
- Delayed-release capsule, one a day before breakfast
- 30 capsules — a one-month supply
Questions people ask
Does it need refrigerating?
Follow the pack. Cool, dry storage preserves viability either way; heat is what kills live cultures.
When should I take it with antibiotics?
At least two hours apart, and continuing for a while after the course ends.
Is 20 billion CFU a lot?
It is a standard daily dose. Strain selection and survival through the stomach matter more than the number. See all supplements.
Good to know. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
