Biotin 2500 mcg capsules provide vitamin B7 at a high daily dose in a single capsule. 60 capsules, a two-month supply.
What biotin does in the body
Biotin is the cofactor for five carboxylase enzymes that sit at the junctions of fat, carbohydrate and amino-acid metabolism. Biotin contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and normal energy-yielding metabolism, to the maintenance of normal hair and normal skin, to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological function. Hair and skin are where a shortfall becomes visible first, because those tissues turn over fastest.
Why 2500 mcg
The EU reference intake is 50 mcg, which is easily met by a mixed diet. The dose here is far above that because the hair and nail studies used high-dose biotin, and because biotin is water-soluble with no established upper limit — the excess leaves in urine rather than accumulating. One capsule a day replaces the handful of gummies that deliver the same amount with added sugar.
Who takes it
Biotin is the supplement people reach for when hair feels thinner or nails split, and it is also relevant on very low-carbohydrate diets, during pregnancy and breastfeeding (requirements rise), with long-term antiseizure medication, and for anyone eating raw egg white regularly — avidin in raw white binds biotin and blocks its absorption. Hair involves more than one nutrient: zinc and the wider B complex act in the same tissue, and collagen peptides are the usual companion for skin and nails.
How to take biotin capsules
One capsule a day with water, with or without food. Give it time: hair grows about a centimetre a month, so changes in hair or nails take three to six months to show, not weeks.
Worth knowing before a blood test. High-dose biotin interferes with some laboratory immunoassays — thyroid hormones and cardiac troponin among them — and can skew results. Tell the lab you take it, or stop two days beforehand.
What is in each capsule
- Biotin (vitamin B7) — 2500 mcg, 5000% NRV

Questions people ask
How long until I see a difference?
Three months is a realistic first checkpoint, six for nails. Biotin supports the tissue; it does not accelerate growth beyond its normal rate.
Can I take it with a multivitamin?
Yes, though a daily multivitamin already includes biotin at reference-intake level. Doubling up is not harmful but is rarely necessary.
Is it suitable for vegans?
The biotin itself is synthetic and not animal-derived; the capsule shell is listed on the label. See all vitamins.
Good to know. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
