PRODUCT FAQ

What is MK-7?

Menaquinone-7 is a form of vitamin K2 with a long half-life in the body.

I take blood thinners. Can I use it?

Only with your doctor's approval: vitamin K interacts with anticoagulants such as warfarin.

About this product

Vitamin K2 MK-7 100 mcg Tablets — full description

Vitamin K2 MK-7 100 mcg tablets supply menaquinone-7, the long-lasting form of vitamin K2. One tablet a day, 60 tablets, a two-month supply.

What vitamin K2 does in the body

Vitamin K is the cofactor that switches on a family of proteins by carboxylating them. Two of those proteins matter most here: prothrombin, needed for clotting, and osteocalcin, which binds calcium into the bone matrix. Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of normal bones. Without enough K2, osteocalcin stays inactive and the calcium absorbed from food circulates without being put to use in bone.

MK-7 rather than MK-4

Vitamin K2 exists in several menaquinone forms. MK-4 has a half-life of roughly an hour, which means several doses a day. MK-7, produced by fermentation, stays in the blood for about three days, so a single daily tablet keeps levels steady. That is the only form in these tablets.

Why K2 belongs next to vitamin D

Vitamin D increases how much calcium the gut absorbs; vitamin K2 governs where that calcium ends up. Taking the two together is the usual approach — pair these tablets with Vitamin D3 2000 IU, or take Calcium + Magnesium + D3 alongside them if your calcium intake from food is low. Magnesium is the third nutrient in the same group, since bone mineral is built from all of them.

How to take vitamin K2 MK-7

One tablet a day with a meal. Vitamin K is fat-soluble, so a meal containing some fat improves absorption. There is no need to split the dose: MK-7 lasts long enough to cover the day.

Important. If you take warfarin or another vitamin K antagonist, do not start vitamin K2 without speaking to your doctor — vitamin K directly affects how those medicines work.

What is in each tablet

  • Vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 (MK-7) — 100 mcg, 133% NRV
  • One tablet a day, with food
  • 60 tablets — a two-month supply

Questions people ask

Can I take K2 and D3 at the same time?

Yes, and most people do. They act on the same calcium pathway from different ends, and both are better absorbed with a meal containing fat.

Is 100 mcg a high dose?

It is the dose used in most MK-7 research and a common daily amount in the EU. Vitamin K has no established upper limit, but there is no reason to go higher.

Who should avoid it?

Anyone on anticoagulant therapy, unless their doctor says otherwise. See the full range in vitamins.

Good to know. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
