Beta-alanine powder comes unflavoured at 3.2 g per serving — the daily dose used in the published studies. 250 g per pack, around 78 servings.
What beta-alanine does
Beta-alanine is not used to build protein. Its job is to combine with histidine to form carnosine, a dipeptide stored in muscle, and beta-alanine is the rate-limiting half of that reaction: muscle carnosine rises or falls with how much beta-alanine is available. Carnosine acts as an intracellular buffer, soaking up the hydrogen ions that accumulate during intense effort and drive the drop in muscle pH. That buffering capacity is the mechanism behind its use in high-intensity work lasting roughly one to four minutes.
Why the dose is 3.2 g and why it takes weeks
Unlike a stimulant, beta-alanine does nothing acutely — taking it before a session has no effect that day. Muscle carnosine builds gradually, and the research protocols use around 3.2 to 6.4 g a day for four to ten weeks to raise stores meaningfully. So it is a loading supplement: taken daily, training or not, for a block of weeks. Stopping it means stores decline slowly over a couple of months.
The tingling
Beta-alanine causes paraesthesia — a prickling or tingling sensation on the face, neck and hands, starting 10–20 minutes after a dose and fading within an hour. It is harmless and dose-dependent. Splitting 3.2 g into two smaller doses during the day, or taking it with a meal, reduces or removes it for most people.
How to use the powder
Mix 3.2 g with water once a day, or split it into two doses to blunt the tingling. Time of day is irrelevant, including on training days. It stacks without interaction alongside citrulline malate, which works on blood flow rather than pH, and BCAA.

Questions people ask
Should I take it before training?
No need. The effect comes from accumulated muscle carnosine, not from the dose you just took.
How long before I notice anything?
Studies run four weeks minimum, most for eight to ten. Treat it as a block, not a pre-workout.
Is the tingling a problem?
It is a known, harmless effect. Split the dose if it bothers you. Full range in amino acids.
Good to know. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
