Cordyceps militaris capsules contain 600 mg of fruiting-body extract per capsule in a plant-cellulose HPMC shell. The serving is two capsules a day, and the 60-capsule jar lasts 30 days.
What Cordyceps militaris is
Cordyceps militaris is a fungus with slim, orange, club-shaped fruiting bodies. In nature it grows from insect larvae buried in soil, but the cultivated form is grown on a prepared substrate, with no insects involved. It is the practical relative of Cordyceps sinensis, the Tibetan caterpillar fungus of traditional Chinese practice, which is scarce, expensive and hard to harvest sustainably. Both have a long history of use in Asia; that is a fact of tradition, not a claim about the capsule.
Cordycepin, adenosine and beta-glucans
The best-known compound in this species is cordycepin, a nucleoside that resembles adenosine, which is why the two are often named together. C. militaris accumulates cordycepin in its fruiting body, and the cell walls hold beta-glucans, a polysaccharide fibre. We do not quote a cordycepin percentage here and make no statement about what any of these compounds does in the body.
What the law lets us say
There are no authorised EU health claims for cordyceps, or for any other mushroom, so we do not promise energy, stamina or recovery. Ask your doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take anticoagulants, diabetes medication or immunosuppressants, have an autoimmune condition, or are allergic to mushrooms. It is not intended for children.
How to take it
Two capsules a day with food and water. Most people settle on the morning or early afternoon, and we suggest the same simply because that is the habit that sticks; the capsules contain no caffeine. A 30-day jar is the length we describe as a course. Cordyceps is often paired with Lion’s Mane, which has the same two-a-day serving and the same 60-capsule, one-month jar. If you prefer a liquid, the cordyceps double extract is made from the same fruiting bodies, and the full list is in mushrooms.
What is in each capsule
- Cordyceps militaris fruiting-body extract — 600 mg per capsule
- Shell: HPMC (plant cellulose, suitable for vegetarians)
- Two capsules a day, with food
- 60 capsules — a 30-day supply
Questions people ask
Is it a stimulant?
It contains no caffeine and no added stimulants, only the mushroom extract. We make no claims about how it feels, as the effects of food supplements vary from person to person.
Why fruiting bodies?
Because that is where cordycepin accumulates in this species. We do not use mycelium grown on grain, which is mostly the starch of the grain. Our mushrooms are grown, dried and milled on our own farm.
Can I take it before training?
You can take it at any time with food. We do not claim any link between the capsules and training, and a meal beforehand is simply the easiest way to avoid an empty-stomach reaction.
Good to know. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
